When the Clans invaded, the appearance of
Clan infantry wearing Elemental Battle Armor had a profound affect on military leaders of the Inner Sphere.
Elementals were an integral part of of battlemech tactics and didn't hold the position of support on the modern
31st Century battlefield as traditional infantry did. Well armored and equipped with mech-class weapons, infantry
in Battle Armor was a force that could hold its own against infantry, vehicles, and even battlemechs themselves.
Captured Clan equipment led to the development of Inner Sphere Battle Armor. Though not quite up to the technology level
of Clan Battle Armor, each House and even mercenary units such as the Grey Death Legion, developed their own Battle Armor suits
based on new battlefield tactics that normal infantry would not be able to fulfill. |
